10 Safety Tips Every Cape Town Visitor Should Know

By Jocelyn Kinder

Just because there is bad press about South African crime doesn't mean that you should put off visiting the beautiful city of Cape Town. You can look forward to a fun and incident-free vacation in one of the world's most popular tourist destinations as long as you follow these simple safety guidelines.

Don't walk around late at night unless you keep to well-lit places like the Waterfront and Camps Bay. Rather take a (decent) taxi than risk being mugged in a dark side street after nightfall.

Accepting help from a stranger at an ATM when drawing cash is a big mistake.

Stay in a group when out at night.

Try not to wave your bag, camera or cell phone around while walking in the city, day or night . If you do this, then you will only attract undesirable attention. Avoid keeping anything of value in back pockets or open backpack compartments.

Keep the windows up and the car doors locked when driving around the city.

Discourage smash and grab theft when driving by keeping bags, keys, cell phones or anything 'tempting' on the floor and not on the seats.

If you wish to visit a township, go with a reputable tour guide, not alone. There are some neighborhood that are less safe than others and it is easy to get lost.

Perhaps you would like to go to a train ride. Go on one with a blue 'Biggsy's Restaurant Car', enjoying a cup of coffee or a yummy breakfast while watching Cape Town's suburbs pass by the window. The bad news is that muggings and harassment are fairly frequent despite the security staff on the trains. When you travel in the restaurant car, it is considered as a more comfortable experience.

Giving cash to beggars should be avoided. Rather make a donation to a registered local charity. Unfortunately, money gained through begging is inevitably ill-spent. Also making you a candidate for being mugged once you have your wallet out is giving out cash.

If you are eating out or watching a movie, do not put your bags on the floor or hang them over the back of your chair. Keep them on your lap, to avoid becoming a victim of opportunistic bag-snatchers. Even in churches, these scoundrels have known to operate.

Don't forget. When it comes to muggers and pickpockets, it is a sad fact of life the world over. As long as you are careful, you will find Cape Town as friendly, safe and enjoyable as any busy cosmopolitan city in the world.

What To Do At Cabo San Lucas

By Arthur Goldberry

Cabo San Lucas is a big hit among tourists worldwide. While it's not heavily populated, it's heavily visited. Cabo San Lucas is a coastal area situated at Baja California, Mexico's southern tip. More often than not its visitors hail from America, who seek paradise and find just what they're looking for in "Cabo." There are also a lot of more hoity-toity Mexicans who visit Cabo San Lucas when on vacation.

As far as ports of call are concerned, few are more popular for cruise lines than Cabo San Lucas. Many cruises from Los Angeles to Mexico included Cabo San Lucas in the itinerary. It can be surmised that since Cabo San Lucas is located on the coast, beaches abound in this area. These aren't any ordinary beaches either. They are free of taint. The pristine beaches of Cabo San Lucas keep attracting travelers year after year after year.

If you're a seafood lover, then Cabo San Lucas is going to be a gourmand's delight. The food is fresh as you might imagine. But why think about seafood as your first priority when Cabo is all about the party lifestyle, not to mention water sports, adventure tours, and the segue to our next paragraph...sport fishing.

Oh, and if you're interested in fishing for sport, you might want to check out Cabo San Lucas' Marlin fishing tournament. This isn't any ordinary fishing tournament. Sponsored by the city, the Marlin tournament features a $1 million jackpot. It is a self-sustaining attraction you wouldn't want to miss if you love fishing.

Nature lovers will want to check out the "El Arco de Cabo San Lucas." I call it a "Triceratops drinking from the water", though many people have their own florid descriptions of this wondrous rock formation. It's quite the sight. The "El Arco de Cabo San Lucas" is considered by many to be one of the rare and most interesting creations by nature in North America. Of course, don't leave home without your camera!

For the party goers, Cabo San Lucas offers some of the best nightlife found anywhere. If you are looking for a unforgettable night out, this is the place to be. Many people compare the scene at the Cabo to the scene in Vegas. You'll have to go to compare for yourself.

If you have the time, take a trip up north to Cabo San Lucas. All you need to travel is twenty miles. It also offers a great atmosphere as well as picturesque panoramic views of the hills. You want to make sure your camera has more than enough film or free space on the memory card.

Remember, when you visit Cabo San Lucas, there's only one rule-live it up to the fullest. Enjoy your stay and take back some memories. Whether you fly into Cabo San Lucas or stop there as part of a cruise, one thing is for sure-you can't stay there long enough.

Hue Hin Resort:A Resort Town Which Most Visitors Never Get to See

By Caleb Joseph

Are you a globetrotter looking to unwind in one of the most exotic resorts with an impeccable history of having attracted tourists for the last 70 years? Welcome to Hua Hin, a five-mile coastline resort. For the avid traveler who is looking forward to a getaway with a spiced up nightlife, this is the destination. When the sun goes down in Hua Hin, this secluded resort has a plethora of activities to offer. One could opt for a Filipino flavor by checking out the Satchmo Club that features a Filipino band while a Mexican mojito provides zing to the evening...a perfect way to relax far from the humdrum city life.

The beach is over five miles long and surrounded by some of the best, yet least expensive, golf courses in the entire world. The city itself was discovered more than 80 years ago by King Rama VII. He chose the place as his home away from home when he wanted to escape the heat and humidity of the capital city. Once King Rama built his palace in what had up until that point been a fishing village, other Siam nobility were soon to follow - which fueled the growth and popularity of Hua Hin. The king's palace - called Klai Kangwon, which means "Far From Worries" - remains an official royal residence and popular attraction to this day. Public tours are easy to arrange - even when members of the royal family are staying there!

Be careful outside the palace, however, because security is very tight and any type of public intoxication or other bad behavior near the palace is dealt with very strictly by the local police officers. While the main tourist activity is to lie out on the sandy beach and have locals bring your drinks or provide massages, there are sites to see when you've decided you've had your fill of fun in the sun. Most of the wealthiest families in Thailand have built their summer homes near the palace or on the beach, which means there is beautiful architecture to see as you stroll around and explore Hua Hin. Khao Takiap is a large hill that is filled with beautiful Buddhist temples and offers the best overhead view of the city, the port and the ocean. It is a four-kilometer hike, so you may want to rent a bike or motorcycle to take you to the top.

The Hua Hin railway station is one of the oldest stations in Thailand and is so beautiful that it is considered one of the country's landmarks. The Spirit Houses of Brassiere Beach has a really odd history. Legend has it that the daughter of a local fisherman was eaten by fish because she was too beautiful to live in the world. Today, men and women leave brasseries on the beach in order to ask the gods for good luck. Namtok Pa Lau is an 11-tier waterfall located about 30 miles outside of town. It is easy to get to by bus, and is particularly popular on hot and humid days.

The Cha Am animal rescue center has also become quite a popular attraction between those that are familiar with the area. This somewhat small rescue center came to be when Thai authorizes asked the owner of the land if he could care for two injured animals. Since then, the center grew and grew, and today it is home to a relatively large variety of animals. Visitors pay no entrance fee, but donations are welcome, and also very much appreciated. One can also volunteer to help out at the center, be it for just a day, or be it for a few weeks or months.Enjoy your exciting thing at Hue Hin Resort.

By Hector Carmine

Imagine lying on warm sand under a blue sky, pine and palm trees rustling behind your head and waves coming gently to the shore beyond your toes. You are at your Hua Hin beach resort, taking a much-deserved holiday. This is bliss, you think after an hour in the sun. But by hour four, the sand is itchy, the sun is blazing, and your iPod is running out of power. What to do? Retreat to your beach resort and recover? Or try something a little more exciting?

Accommodation in the area can fit any budget range. From the simplest guest house to the most luxurious Hua Hin beach resort, there is something for everyone here. Recently, boutique-style resorts have become very popular with both Thai and international tourists. This kind of beach resort generally has many of the amenities of the bigger international chains as well as local design details and charm in an intimate setting. For example, the Anantara Hua Hin Resort & Spa is modelled after a traditional Thai village, while still containing a luxurious spa and two infinity-edge pools. Even though the beach area is so close to Bangkok, in places like Anantara, it is easy to feel that you have left the city behind you.

The small rock formations that rise from the sea offer the visitors beautiful vistas and a rich coral reef, with rich and colorful marine life has been a source of wonder. Kite-boarding is also very popular, thanks to the shallow and calm sea and consistent winds of low-intensity. The Kite festival is also very famous and attracts thousands of tourists for the event held every year.

Once at the Hua Hin beach of your choice, what should you do? Fortunately, Hua Hin does not disappoint when it comes to recreation and attractions. While sunning yourself on the sand is always an appealing option, there are plenty of other activities for those who want to be more adventurous or active. Horse or elephant rides are perennially popular diversions and can be found at almost every beach. Of course, water sports are also crowd-pleasers - learn to wind-surf or kite-board one afternoon or explore the coastline from a sea kayak. If you prefer to remain on terra firma, the area abounds in world-class golf courses at which your beach resort can arrange for you to play, for nine or 18 holes.

Eating local seafood: Playing around in the sun all day can make you quite hungry! Circumnavigating Paris:My Paris Holidays

By John Roney

Paris is not only the capital, but also it is the largest city of France. It is located on the Seine River, in the northern part of France. The city of Paris has an estimated population around 2,200,000 (as of January 2007), but the metropolitan area in Paris has a population of 11,836,970 (also as of 2007) and is one of Europe's most populated metropolitan areas. In 2009 and 2010, Paris has been ranked among the 3 most influential and important cities in the world, among the first 3 "European cities of the future" (published by Financial Times), and among the top ten cities in the world "places to live in" (British review Monocle June 2010).

The Parisians are also not like the other Europeans. They are something average between the reserved German and dissolute Italians. They are rude with the other drivers and pedestrians, do not stick to the traffic rules, honk like madmen... but still they are very gallant. The Parisian will always hold back the door, apologize to you if he accidentally treads on your foot and will heap you on with compliments if you've got pretty eyes. They are really proud of their nationality and sincerely sympathize with the non-French, but understand that to be a French is a privilege and not everyone is lucky enough to have it.

Paris and the Paris Region, with €552.7 billion (US $813.4 billion) in 2008, produces more than one-fourth of the gross domestic product (GDP) of France. According to 2007 estimations, the Paris urban agglomeration is Europe's biggest city economy and also is the sixth largest in the whole world. The Paris Region hosts around 35 of the Fortune Global 500 companies in several different business districts, like La Defense, the largest purpose-built business district in all of Europe.

Paris host several international organizations like the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the informal Paris Club, and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). According to the latest Economist Intelligence Unit survey in 2010, Paris is the world's most expensive city to live in.

From my personal experience Circumnavigating Paris, the surrounding square is an excellent location for a traveller to immerse him or herself in some of Paris best local art architecture. There are many great photo opportunities to be had, so make sure to bring a camera and save a couple hours for the Place des Abbesses.
