Going On A Los Angeles Vacation - Top Five Destinations

By Kathleen Burch

Ah, Los Angeles -- El-Lay, the City of Angels -- for tourists this is not exactly the easiest city to make your way around. Most people live and play in the cities around Los Angeles, not in downtown L.A. itself. Some of the more famous locales surrounding Los Angeles are Beverly Hills and West Hollywood and there are small beach communities located up and down the coast, like Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach. And we haven't even mentioned Anaheim, home of baseball's Los Angeles Angels...and of course, Disneyland. This article is about Los Angeles' many surrounding cities, but we shall restrict the scope of this article to the five aforementioned cities and what they have to offer tourists.

Beverly Hills

Visit Beverly Hills if you're looking for a taste of the excitement and splendor associated with fame, fortune and in most cases, celebrity. Beverly Hills also offers amazing shopping and beautiful hotels which cater to stars. The year-round sunshine and incredible homes make this part of Los Angeles a wonderful place to stay.

West Hollywood

Yes, this is where the Sunset Strip is -- home to some of the best-known vestiges of L.A. culture, and also a reminder of some of the worst sounds created in popular music history -- though of course you may beg to disagree. You can take in some of the best night spots and dining areas that Los Angeles has to offer while on the 'Strip. West Hollywood has also a thriving art and design community, featuring over 30 art galleries, 200-plus design showrooms and the Pacific Design Center.

Santa Monica

Among L.A.'s surrounding cities, one would be hard pressed to find a prettier and more trendy location than Santa Monica, which is well-known for its great-looking beachside backdrop and the number of bars and restaurants flocked to by Hollywood's finest actors and musicians. Feel free to take in the nightlife by having a great time at one of the many bars and restaurants, but remember, parking can be a challenge! By riding a taxi or a limousine (yes, a limo), you don't have to worry about the parking problem.

It wouldn't hurt to take a limousine while at Los Angeles, because it can be quite affordable; this is the exact opposite of what you may be accustomed to seeing and thinking. More often than not limousine companies charge an hourly rate, so if you consider hiring one for your L.A. travels, it's not necessarily going to break the bank. As usual, research would be very helpful for you in finding the best rates, so take a look at as many companies as possible while comparing. Booking early, like about two or three days early would be a good way for you to take advantage of even lower rates.

Manhattan Beach

Travel three miles from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport, natch) and you'll find Manhattan Beach, which is also orientated south of Santa Monica Bay. The beautiful 928-foot pier at the end of Manhattan Beach Boulevard offers year-round fishing. In addition, the pier's aquarium and marine studies laboratory is open to the public free of charge.

Anaheim

If you're on vacation with the entire family, then an hour's drive south of L.A. would bring you to Anaheim. Drive about one hour south of Los Angeles to make your way to the home of Disneyland, the happiest place in California, if not the world. Take a ride on one of the numerous all-time favorite rides at Disneyland such as Space Mountain, and have your kids fraternize with Mickey, Donald and the rest of the gang. But don't leave Disneyland until you and the family have seen the fireworks and the parades.

Finding Major Airline Cheap Tickets

By Amanda Kirby

A lot of people on a tight travel budget turn to discount airlines as their first option to get tickets. You may not be interested at first with the concept of buying major airline cheap tickets, but you might save some money and not have to search that long for them.

When you fly on discount airlines, you may find they're not the bargain you'd hoped for. However, you can get some great service at a low cost with major airline cheap tickets. The customer service is excellent as compared to discount airlines, which are often delayed, with similarly "discounted" customer service.

There is a huge catch, or sometimes several, when it comes to flying on discount airlines. One example is having to stop by at various layovers instead of flying direct. You can stop by at multiple layovers, and get to your destination much later than what is actually scheduled.

Technical malfunctions and weather issues are other things you need to deal with when booking discount airline cheap tickets. You may get limited options from the discount airline, as opposed to major airlines who will have a wider selection of flights in case of a delay.

More often than not, you'll be left doing nothing at the airport except screaming at the airline agent. Discount airline cheap tickets may be cheap indeed, but expect Murphy's Law to rear its head from time to time. So why not book with a major airline instead? As discussed, you get more options. Layovers are fewer and shorter, and you can choose from different alternate landing points. You'll also generally have more choices about what time you leave and return home.

And because major airlines are often at war with each other, you're likely to find that you can get major airline cheap tickets for the same price or lower than discount airlines. And another thing about major airline cheap tickets is the fact that you have options - this bears repeating - whenever a flight may unexpectedly break down or get delayed by bad weather.

And in the event that the major airline has nothing to offer you, they can negotiate with other airlines to put you on another flight.

You'll have fewer hassles, spend about the same money, and be able to enjoy a smoother trip. Always consider major airlines when you're flying out on a limited budget so you can get reliable service at a low price.

By Thelma Kent

These days, most people find relaxation in going to different places. Getting an accommodation may not seem so easy, especially when visiting a place for the first time. Hence, it's essential to check on what most inns have to offer, before setting up an accommodation. Kamloops motels in British Columbia provides their visitors with a beautiful view of the city, as well as fairly priced rates.

The place is popular for its natural resources and parks, offering a peaceful retreat, away from the everyday hustle and bustle. It is also surrounded by two bodies of water, namely the Kamloops Lake and Thompson River. Smaller communities also surround the area, hence, Adams Lake, Chase, and Scotch Creek can be found nearby.

The word 'motel' is a shorter term for motorists hotel. It is coined as such since most motorists or travelers postpone their travel during the night and sleep at motels. These establishments are also called inns, cabin camps, and tourist lodges. They're also less spacious than hotels, and are usually equipped with simple amenities.

Most inns are also located along highways, so that they can be easily spotted by motorists. Unlike their classier counterpart which are usually found in commercial areas, alongside malls and tourist spots. Catfish And Bass Lake Fishing

By Thelma Kent

Santee Cooper Lake fishing has drawn in anglers from South Carolina and all over the map since as far back as 1942. The Moultrie and Marion lakes were created and connected with a 6.5m canal between them. Both water bodies are open all 12 months for fishing because they do not freeze in the winter.

Huge catfish are abundant all year. Bass and bream are netted in equally large quantities during peak seasons. Santee Cooper is the holder of many state records for channel catfish and bass, and some even at the world level.

Because the lake system connects the two rivers through their lakes and the canal, boats get to explore and look for the fish over an amazingly large and diverse area covered by fresh water. Moultrie is a wide open water body that stretches for 14 miles across. Marion has a completely different marine ecosystem with live cypress trees and dead tree trunks and stumps all over the place.

The best time and place to visit will obviously vary based on the fish being sought. But spring is generally considered to be the right time. Bream can be hauled in by the bucket load from April end to May, and fly-fishing tends to be very popular about this time. The fall is suitable for crappies and the largemouth bass that hang around in the shallow water by the cypress in Marion.

The fall is also a good time to get hold of the striped bass, which are lured to the lake surface by shad. It's easier to spot where they're coming up because the seagulls flock there too. Look around for noisy seagulls on the water and head there quickly to reel in the stripers while they're still after the shad.

An $11 fresh water license has to be purchased for santee cooper lake fishing. Salt water licenses can also be purchased separately for the same price. If a boat is needed, rentals are available at all marinas. Choose the right boat for the fish in question, because there will be everything from a 30-footer tritoon to tiny pontoons and fiberglass vessels. Get an experienced captain who can double as a guide.

Eight Tips For Traveling Lite And Packing Your Things

By Dustin Faulkner

Traveling can be such a headache these days, but fortunately it can be made easier by a good packing strategy. But here are a few quick tips, starting with the most obvious one - carry small luggage so you can save half an hour time at the arriving airport. It is easy to break away from the hustle and the bustle of the baggage terminal simply by packing light, traveling light and bringing those carry-ons whose linear diameter is no more than 45 inches. To learn how to pack all your needs into two suitcase, read more.

How-to Pack & Travel Lite

Brass tacks - make a list first. List everything that is to be packed. Make sure you match each shirt and blouse with the bottoms, may they be pants or skirts. Rule of thumb - you have to bring clothes you can use in multiple occasions, or solid colors. If you see something that doesn't match, then leave them home where they should be!

And here are even more substantial packing tips to help you travel light:

Accessorize. How to make an awe-inspiring impression out of a basic or mundane outfit? Glam yourself up with a snazzy-looking tie for the men and a colorful scarf for the ladies. Make your attire vibrant with these technicolor accessories!

Roll 'em up please. The best way to fit all your clothes is by rolling pants & shirts. First fold each item in half. Then all you need to do is roll. To try to maintain any creases, start on the bulkiest end of the news story of clothing.

Employ shoe smarts. The dudes reading this article can opt to bring rubber-soled shoes made of leather, perfect for any time of the day. For woman, a pair of flip-flops, strappy sandals & comfy wedges can serve all casual - chic dressing needs.

Minimize bulk. Be as tough as a drill sergeant when it comes to minimizing bulk from your carry-ons. It's best to pack microfibers that are resistant to wrinkles and stains. With most of your attire, stay in the same color scheme - in case you have to layer up for warmth.

Put under garments on the top. To reduce the embarrassment of under garments becoming the side show attraction of the open luggage scan, place all panties in a plastic bag free of any clippers, lighters or other questionable paraphernalia. To make the open luggage check much easier, the plastic bag must be placed on top of your other items to minimize chances of security pooping on your party and ruining what you worked so hard to pack.

Don't bring extra baggage. Lose it - especially that Bible-sized travel guide of yours. Leave it at home, that is, and make sure you have everything you need with you. As for appliances like hair dryers, you may not want to bring them as hotels usually provide these to guests.

Lose those restricted items too. If you want to make it through security extra speedy, avoid any firearms, weapons, box-cutters, scissors, razors, lighters & any other item that may be used in a terrorist situation.
