Champagne Sailing On New Yachts

By Aaron Linebarger

Yacht Columbus Sport Hybrid 40m: The latest reports from the Palumbo Shipyard in Naples, Italy demonstrate that the 40m Columbus Sport Hybrid Project is progressing at a rate of knots. With the all-aluminum hull and superstructures now all but complete, the focus of attention is turning toward the interior fit out, conceived by Hot Lab Yacht & Design in Milan in conjunction with the shipyard and owner.

Yacht Dubois 101m Sloop: Built entirely out of aluminum, Design 380 is 400-tonnes lighter than she would be if built from steel, even when the necessary ballast is added. Her mast and all attendant spars and rigging will be built in carbon fibre and innovative sail-handling solutions will require a total crew of just 22. Josep Juanpere Miret of GCA Arquitectes Associats, a Barcelona-based studio which has designed a number of hotels, corporate spaces, and restaurants, created the yacht's interior designs.

Yacht Jongert 3200P: Forward, directly aft of the salon doors, there is additional seating if guests want a break from the 'action', the interior layout is available in three variations. The first features a large saloon, a master stateroom and two guest suites, while the second layout has a smaller saloon and a third guest cabin. The third provides for four guest cabins. A second salon, adjacent to the galley, is also located below decks. The Doug Peterson hull design adds speed and stability to her sleek style and pedigree.

Yacht Columbus Sport Hybrid 40m: According to Romano, diners will be seated around the custom table on eight comfortable compact armchairs, supplied by Moroso. Two large windows frame the salon itself and the airy atmosphere is further enhanced by two large sliding glass doors and opening bulwarks to better enjoy uninterrupted views of the ocean. While the owner enjoys well-lit on-deck staterooms, down below guest enjoy equally well-appointed cabins.

Yacht ISA's 41m Classic series: Currently enjoying a busy production schedule, the International Shipyard of Ancona (ISA) has a number of yachts currently under construction at the yard. Amongst the most eagerly anticipated is the first in ISA's 41m Classic series, with a full displacement steel hull topped with a lightweight aluminum superstructure. The 41m carries the purity of line and styling of this eponymous series, and is unmistakably the younger sibling of her larger sibling, ISA's 50m Classic launched in 2011.

Yacht Miss Tor 40m Schooner Her interior dcor will be one of light colors, with creams and whites reflecting the natural light through large picture window portholes in her hull and huge glazed surfaces in the superstructure, where the salon and dining room form the main living and entertainment space. An expansive cockpit provides a dining area for the yacht's guests, while a sundeck up above features a huge outdoor table forward overlooking the bows, with a Jacuzzi aft.

Yacht Dubois 101m Sloop: The commission came from an existing Dubois client who wanted more than just a megayacht capable of transoceanic cruising. He wanted an explorer, with plenty of dedicated space for tenders, spares, and other equipment. That's a design brief better-suited to the power yacht sector, but one that has crossed over rather well. Design 380 is not only impressive for her size, however.

Yacht ISA's 41m Classic series: With her inoffensive styling, surfeit of exterior and interior space and full displacement efficiency, on would expect the 41m Classic to be a hit on the charter market, and if this is the case, guests can enjoy the attention of six crewmembers, plus the captain. Powered by twin CAT C-18 engines to achieve a top speed of 14.5 knots (or 16 knots with the more powerful alternatives of twin C-32s), the 41m Classic carries almost 16,000 US Gal of fuel. Scheduled for delivery during the summer this year, the 41m Classic is expected to make her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
