Red river catfishing holds very many opportunities which are all probably fun for fishermen and are also expected to be fruitful in catching catfish.

Fast water has numerous benefits when it is about fishing. This kind of water normally has loads of foods and airs constantly flowing hence many fish are expected to be there. The waters may be a perfect spot for anglers to get trophy sized catfishes. The fast water is not necessarily an intense current. It could be any water streaming with a noticeable current.

Each catfishing period may have its own different method of catching the fish in the current. An angler will need to have information on the feeding patterns and movements of the fish in all seasons in relation to the moving water. With this understanding they will easily figure out how to feed them and catch them.

One of the seasons is called the pre-prawn season and it is considered good for fishing. This is a period in the spring when the flood waters have not subsided yet. This season, there is fast flow of water and there are also very many catfish available to be caught. The anglers will need to learn how to work with the currents in this season.

During the spring, the rivers usually open up to allow more water to flow. This adds to the food and oxygen supply which means more catfish will be available to feed. With the adequate food, the catfish will be fat and easier to catch for the anglers. In this season it is advisable for the fishers to move their boats right to the point of fishing and make a sharp drop to the bottom of the water.

The spawn period also has fish available but anglers acknowledge that it is harder to catch fish in this season. Using the traditional methods of angling will make their efforts go to waste therefore they are required to look for a spot where the water is funneling down because the water here moves faster.

The post-spawn is another period that is full of catfish that are big-headed, long and skinny. This is the period that most of the catfish coming out to feed after they spend a long time resting in their nests. Their lack of aggressiveness is caused due to the fact that they do not eat in this period. To catch catfish in this period, it is wiser to find a place where the water is flowing low into a hole.

Another season best for fishing is the summer. This period has currents that are not high and the waters very clear. Clear water makes it simpler for the fishermen to spot catfish and this lessen their fishing stress. The red river therefore is always a perfect location for fishing trips in any season of the year.
