Boat Rentals In Bermuda Create A Whole New Market For Vacationers

By Alta Alexander

Visiting Bermuda without experiencing the sea is like a trip to the Grand Canyon and not looking at the scenery. And of course one of the best ways to experience the ocean is on a boat. Boat rentals in Bermuda can transform a holiday into an unforgettable experience. Here are a few great ideas for having an amazing time on a boat.

Anglers relate that there is nothing like having a large fish on your line to get adrenaline rushing through the body. Even those who are not regular or enthusiast anglers describe a deep sea fishing excursion as a holiday highlight. They are not so deep sea either as many top sites can be reached within forty five minutes. Marlin, tuna and wahoo, amongst hundreds of other species, seem to provide the greatest challenge and mystique. Research a reputable charter company that focuses on safety as well as fishing.

Traditional lovers of sail power may prefer a yachting experience. Possibly a calmer and more sedate method to explore the many islands and inlets. There are 181 islands in the archipelago to be accurate and probably as many rental agencies. Yacht rentals can be arranged over periods from a day to months and craft range from kayaks and dinghies to ocean crossing trimarans, with or without crews.

Most companies require those who want to go it alone to prove their qualifications and attend an initial orientation briefing of local conditions and hazards. Due to the potential hazards, less experienced sailors are recommended to at least employ the services of a local skipper. The wonderful thing about sailing is that it is the ideal way to combine different activities. It is just so easy to lower anchor and stop for a swim, a spot of fishing, snorkeling, diving, or for that matter just stop for lunch.

Not all boating experiences involve being on or in the water. Parasailing is a unique way of getting a birds eye view of secluded beaches, turquoise water and abundant reefs by being suspended beneath a specially designed canopy and towed behind a motor cruiser. Tandem rides are also possible with the norm being to fly between 500 and 600 hundred feet and unless you request a dip, participants need not even get wet. Parasail operators are less common so more planning and advanced reservations are needed but the panorama and thrill are well worth the extra effort.

Diving is another activity for which the islands have become renowned. Snorkeling and scuba-diving are major attractions. Sunken ships and abundant reefs bring delighted divers back to locations such as South West Breaker year after year. Often described as a natural aquarium such is the density of sea life, divers have recounted stories of barracudas in such volumes as to have blocked out light from the sun. As ever with diving observing safe practice are the key words.

Lack of experience need not be an obstacle as there are many well run and certified companies offering introductory courses to newcomers. First timers do not have to fear doing all the instruction in a pool either as some companies hold part of their training on safe reef locations such as Sandy Hole.

Water skiing, wake board surfing, canoe trips are just a few more ideas not even discussed, emphasising again the massive variety of activities that boats make possible.
