So, whether you have a family old machine or a new one, monthly and quarterly tuneups are important to keep your bicycle running for a very long time.

Although it is costly to bring your bicycle to a professional mechanic, but the benefits and advantages will outweigh the overall costs. Doing the bicycle tune up by yourself is fine if you have the right tools and equipment as well as skills to complete the job. But if not, then better let professional hands to handle the job for you.

Dust and dirt are basically the enemies of any bike, so before starting the cleaning process, it is important to find a specious and clean place to get started. If you use a certain place like the pathway, it is better to seep the place first before starting. The tuneup is usually revolving around the cleaning, minor adjustments and in the lube. Cleaning is an easy and vital way of keeping your bicycle running for the coming years.

This is also considered as the heart of the bicycles. It is best to wipe it with clean cloth. If your chain is sticky with grease, dirty and rusty, you can use a spray from fine brushes or a degreaser from fluid and let it dry before adding grease to the chains again.

After maintaining the drive chain, it is now time to focus on the body. If you are a mountain cyclist and you usually get muddy, wash the bike with light mists. Keep in mind not to stream the water directly to the hubs, headset or bottom bracket. If you do so, it may only cause the bike to rust and creak the internal parts.

One of the primary causes of issues to the bike is lack of proper lubrication. If you forget to check on the lubrication every month, bearings and metal rubs may also grind and your bike will stop functioning properly. If you think proper lubrication of your bike, it may also lead to similar problems. If you prefer to ride in rough spaces, it is best to add extra dry based lube on the chain.

Before heading the road, you have to check the condition of your brakes. Check out the pads and see any possible wear in the brake pads. If you see some, then replace them if necessary. If the brakes are also making a grinding noise after aligning them, you might need to sand them.

Troubleshooting and repairing a bicycle may also take longer hours and may require you some special tools and equipment. With many problems iwhich include the misaligned wheels, clicking gears and loose headsets, it is best to take it to an expert mechanic or use the manual when fixing them.

Adjusting, cleaning and lubricating certain areas can make a your biking experience on top of everything. Do not just wait until your bike will ages before tuning it. Any regular tuneup can also make a great difference on how perfect you ride is and how long the parts will last.
