Las Vegas Trips: Grand Canyon National Park Bus Rides Through Christmas Holidays

By Belinda Shields

If you're planning a trip to Vegas over the holidays, then you should take a side trip to the Grand Canyon since it's only 120 miles away. A bus tour to the National Park would be a great way to spend a day with the family. You can take a tour to the West Rim or the South Rim, but you need to book your tour soon.

Bus tours leave every day, even on the 25th of December, but you'll have to get in quick, because tours are selling out fast.

South Rim Bus Tours

Las Vegas is almost 300 miles from the South Rim, and the journey takes just over five hours. Even so, this trip is in high demand, with the South Rim offering untouched scenic beauty.

If you book this tour, you will go to Tusayan in Arizona. This is right beside the main gate at the National Park. You'll have about three hours there to take in the sights. Besides seeing Grand Canyon Village, you'll want to check out Yaki Point and Mather Point. The South Rim has a different look and pace than the West Rim, and you may enjoy the atmosphere here better.

Vegas Bus Tours To The West Rim

If you'd prefer a shorter ride, then you'll want to choose a West Rim bus trip since you can get there from Vegas in about 2 ? hours. Plus, you'll get to see Hoover Dam as your bus passes by it on the way to the Canyon.

You can choose a deluxe or basic tour. There's breakfast included, and there are no hidden fees. Having an all-inclusive ticket removes any guesswork from your budget.

You'll be given three hours to explore the West Rim on foot. There are several scenic trails to try and a couple of great lookouts like Eagle Point and Guano Point. The West Rim is the most popular destination at the Canyon, and one reason why is the Skywalk. You can add the tickets to your tour and walk on the glass bridge while you're suspended 4000 feet above the bottom of the Canyon and 70 feet past the rim. You should really try it if you plan a trip to the West Rim.

There are also helicopter options at the West Rim. One tour can take you down to the bottom of the Canyon, where you could take a boat tour along the river. With so much to see and do, and being so close to Las Vegas, it's no wonder that the West Rim is so incredibly popular.

You Want To Book Early

As already stated, these tours are very popular. They often sell out, so you will need to get in early. Since Christmas in nearly here, you need to book now. It's convenient to buy your tour online with your credit card, plus you'll get the best rate that way and confirmation of your seats. The bus tours last all day, so be sure to reserve a full day when you take your trip, as you'll probably be too tired when you get back to attend a show or dinner.

Since the colder months are upon us, you'll want to dress in layers so you stay warm. The South Rim in particular can get cold enough to snow, so be sure to check the weather forecast the night before your tour so you know how to dress.

Conclusion

Make this Christmas a special one. Book a scenic bus tour to the Canyon. You can go to the West Rim or the South Rim from Vegas, and either one is a good choice. Although the West Rim is a good destination for adventure and excitement, while the South Rim is best if you want to see nature's beauty. Decide soon and book your tour online so you'll be all set for a fun-filled Christmas break.
