How to Get Ready for a Fun Vacation at a Park

If your family's vacation budget is a bit tight this year, don't worry. Just because you cannot afford an expensive family vacation doesn't mean you cannot still have fun as a family. Sometimes, simple vacations can in fact be even more enjoyable than expensive ones. Think back on some of the fun times you've had in the past, and you may be surprised by how many of them were simple things that really cost little or no money. After all, the destination is not the most crucial part of a family vacation - the truly important component is simply spending precious time together as a family. If you're looking for something reasonably priced to do as a family vacation, or you just want to have fun during a free afternoon, then planning a vacation day at the park could be exactly the thing for you!

Determining Where to Go

If your community is like most, there is probably a park situated somewhere nearby. There may even be multiple parks near enough to you that it will take very little time to drive to them. When you research the subject, you might even find out that there are different attractions that each park has. One park, for instance, might have a fantastic area for a picnic while a different one might have a basketball court or baseball diamond. Many parks also have nature trails and walking paths that you can enjoy. Try to locate the park that provides the most of what your family enjoys having fun with together. Of course, sometimes it is also fun to try out something new. After the location is chosen, then will come the planning.

Planning a Park Vacation Day

While you can certainly have a great time even if your family makes a spur of the moment choice to go to the park, it can be lots of fun to do a little planning. Choose a couple activities that you'd like to participate in during your day at the park, and gather together your equipment and supplies if necessary. One example of an inexpensive way to have a good time is to bring some kites to the park if it's a windy day. Or, put together a picnic lunch, allowing everybody to contribute an item to the menu. Do not forget to bring your camera, because that will permit you to capture some awesome memories which may later be preserved in picture frames or a scrapbook at home. You might also want to pack sports supplies such as a baseball, bat and glove, or some tennis rackets if you are sure the park has a tennis court you can play on. Many parks even allow you to bring your dog along, provided that you keep him or her on a leash and clean up after them.

How to Preserve the Memories of Your Family's Day of Vacation

You'll want to take lots of photos of your vacation at the park, even if it didn't include anything strange or exotic. Take photos of your family having fun together, as well as pictures depicting the overall beauty of nature. You may even want to have enlargements made of a few of your photos, putting them in large picture frames to make interesting and reasonably priced wall art.

So you see, vacations don't have to be long or costly. All it takes is a bit of planning, a place to go, and the desire to have fun!
