Fly Clear: Getting Beyond Airport Security

By Ken Godberson

Airport security has always been a troubling and time-lengthy task. It only became more difficult after the horrible events of September 11, 2001. People have to arrive at the airport several hours prior to their flight, even longer if it's an international flight. However, there are ways to reduce your wait time at the airport security checkpoint and fly clearly to your destination!

One of the simplest ways to help reduce your time at the airport security line is through proper research into the airport your leaving out of. Check to see what the current security regulations are, as well as seeing what size luggage is allowed along with what kinds of liquids are allowed onboard. These questions and more can be answered just through quick Internet research.

Also, you must take into consideration what kinds of products that should be in your carry-on bag. It is recommended that you bring necessary items that you may not be able to purchase at the lodgings you intend to stay at. Products such as deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, lotion and other such hygiene items are highly recommended. Also, remember that you are limited to the amount of these products you can carry. This is fine, since most drugstores carry small bottled of these items.

There is always the option of purchasing a security bypass card. These passes allow access to special lanes in order to reduce time at security. These cards can be purchased online and picked up at certain airports. With access to these lines, you can clear security at a much faster rate.

Getting through airport security has always been a nerve racking venture. The tragedy of 9/11 only made it more difficult. However, it does not have to be entirely a nightmare. With the proper planning, knowing the regulations of the airport, knowing what and how to pack, and perhaps a bypass card, you will have an easier time to fly clear!
