What To Expect From Fun Tours

By Gloria Gardner

The Big Apple has to be one of the liveliest, most bustling and entertaining cities on the earth. From soaring skyscrapers to Central Park, the Statue of Liberty to Broadway and the Empire State Building to Times Square, NYC is iconic, beautiful and a whole heap of fun. Taking a fun tours in NYC with your family or partner is a great way to explore all the world's number one city has to offer.

You can choose to make a themed tour of New York and Manhattan in particular. Maybe you want to see the best buildings, the best parks, the best bars, the best museums or galleries, the best shopping or the entertainment venues. It's all down to the age of your party and your personal taste.

NYC is a fabulous place to discover by walking and it's almost impossible to get lost. The streets cross from west to the east, going up from 1st Street in Tribeca to 191st Street. They cross vertical avenues which run the north-south length of the island of Manhattan.

Most of the tourist attractions center in Midtown, approximately between 23rd Street and Central Park, though there are notable exceptions. Here you can see the great, famous buildings like the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, the Flat Iron and the Chrysler Building. You can either do these as self-guided tours, employ a tour guide or hop on an open top bus.

If a fun retail therapy tour is your thing, head for the designer stores of swanky Fifth Avenue. Don't miss the original departments stores such as Macy's, Sak's Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's either. Head for the funky shopping districts like Queens' Austin Street and the lavish boutiques in NY's Meatpacking District.

Whatever theme you choose for your fun tours in nyc, it's a good idea to talk to the experts. Many good companies can organize taxi or walking tours, matching your tastes. The best way to discover the heart of New York, and maybe leave the tourist track, is to tour with a real New Yorker.
