Be aware of people pretending to be officials in a foreign country. You should always check credentials, and avoid releasing your passport or official documents to these individuals. When traveling, try packing light by planning what you desire to do and where you want to go. Traveling light can save a lot of frustration on the road and in the airport.

Whenever possible, inquire about staying in a room on one of the topmost floors of the hotel. This may seem simple, but the security afforded from higher floors is worth it. Be sure to also ask for quarters which do not have sliding doors. It's easier to gain unwanted access to these types of rooms.

Educate your children about airport security. Explain what they will go through when they have to go through security at the airport. Keep adults at the front and back of your group when going through security checks, so children always have a calming presence close at hand. Children can be reassured about the screening process if they can watch an adult go through it first.

When on a road trip, it is an ideal time to listen to your favorite per-recorded music on while enjoying the ride. Many times, the radio will have a lot of static from traveling out of the city or state, so this provides you with constant entertainment during your trip.

If you are planning on going out of the country, you should buy an electrical adapter from a discount store. Purchasing one near an airport or hotel can be extremely expensive.
