The Yucatan Peninsula is covered by a thick jungle that is lushly filled with many trees as well as a wild forest. The jungle is no longer cultivated. However according to researches, the ancient Maya people highly and devotedly managed the landscapes before their civilization collapsed. The wild forest was once the ancient Mayan cities which was abandoned and left to be eaten by the jungle.

The Gardens Of The Yucatan Peninsula That Have Gone Untamed

The greenery of the Maya civilization is all of the plants and animal species found in the jungle of Yucatan Peninsula and it has gone untamed. There was no forest before the foreign invasion only landscapes.

An ancient civilization prospered in the jungle ages ago and this was proven by the fact that the ecosystem of the peninsula bears an indication that human manipulation. The plants were found to be spread uniformly which would not happen if they have evolved in a natural way. This observation only verifies that the Mayans thoroughly altered the jungle where they built their civilizations.

Further investigations were done which established the fact that most of the plants that remain to exist are those that are economically important. This shows that the land was greatly used by the ancient people for their food supply.

The Lush Forest Of The Yucatan

It is impossible to go through the jungle except through embarking on a guided tour. The main highways run along the coasts and the roads that were built are crisscrossing the region.

A lot of the inner parts of the jungle are not inhabited apart from some hunters that still are living in small communities. These native villages can be accessed through trail. Electricity is already present in some of the villages.

This park's main attraction is the natural lagoon as well as inlet wherein a lot of water species inhabit. The park has a turtle reserve and amongst the activities available comprises scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming with the dolphins.

And they also provide the chance to experience something that is ancient and hidden from most of the world. The peninsula's Mayan jungle is a tropical rainforest that is dense and was once inhabited by the Mayans. In the modern times this was converted into Mexican villages. The peninsula is diverse when it comes to culture and ecology.
