The subsequent 3 days were all regarding shooting! Bruce's stylist, Alevtina from Russia, their self a former model and Make Up Artist Ana from Romania, required care of Sundal, our own model for the evening. On the first day of shooting, we all shot each 'look' inside a different portion of the house using only available light, with this lessons fellow workers helping out with reflectors. The day challenged a number of assumptions I could have created about whether there was 'not adequate light'! When you are at a 60th at f2.8 and the meter is still telling you that you're gonna be underexposed, Bruce's answer is to 'make' some light! Finding some eye-port light on the floor with a large reflector and then choosing that light track of another reflector and bouncing it back on to the scene had been as simple as it absolutely was ingenious. Tiny techniques such as this, allied to Bruce's distinctive style of shooting smarter and entertained just about all the delegates on the lessons.
The next day was cloudy and saw all of us bouncing light from a variety of studio flash heads all over the amazing principal hall of Hampton Court House, in most cases, all over the place except directly on the model. Again, the emphasis was much more about supplementing available light to create the needed ambience. Our model Kate went through four different looks, each fitting in with the grandeur and elegance of the environment.
On the final day of shooting, our model was Lois and our stylist was Angel, while Ana stayed on hand for hair and make up. All of us shot three very different and distinctive looks inside two different parts of the home. As prior to, Bruce started each and every session with a demo shoot, enabling the team members to see exactly how Lois responded to Bruce's course. Each use outsourcing for then experienced their session, aided by a colleague from the training course whether along with reflectors or just moving a lens or even new CF card.
Right after three days of shooting, three different models and four seems per day, the team had plenty of images to be able to sub change. I'm aiming to set up any studio this summer and pictures with a 'fashion' edge in their mind is definitely something which is going to be on the menu!
