1. Tobacco

2. Treacle (uncrystallized syrup produced in refining sugar)

3. Honey

4. Sugar

5. Molasses

6. Glycerin

7. Nicotine

8. Dried Fruit

9. Distilled Water

The hookah smokers prefer the common fruity flavors like apple, banana or mango. But, there are plenty of new and creative flavors on the market such as Starbuzz's "Blue Mist". The majority of newer flavors do, however, take their cues from the tried and true traditional fruit flavors. Flavors such as Apple pie, blueberry muffin and banana split are some of the popular ones.

Shisha flavors have become extremely versatile because of the relative simplicity of flavoring during manufacturing. Unique flavors are produced because essentially every ingredient can be mixed in dried, tobacco, glycerin and sweetener.

Social Smoking

Hookah is usually shared in a social environment where the smokers may gather for pleasant conversation and to enjoy the aroma generated by the flavored shisha smoke. As hookahs grew in popularity throughout the Middle East centuries ago, it became typical to see them in eating and drinking establishments. Nowadays they are seen in places from smoking parlors, to clubs, to the home.

The smoke from shisha has a calming impact on the smoker, which is one of the many reasons why it became popular swiftly. People smoke it out of social pursuit and not for any kind of biological effect it has. In contrast cigarette for starters, has a really bad smell and smokers generally smoke cigarette out of addiction. A cigarette undoubtedly lasts no more than 5 minutes and a shisha lasts for more than one hour, but the latter isn't addictive.

Getting the Most Flavor from Your Hookah

To get the most out of your hookah you don't need much, but just some good common sense and a sound sense of discipline. The first and most important thing is to clean your device regularly. After every smoking session you need to wash your hookah. It is best to wash hookah with warm water than with cold water.

If you wish to have a smooth smoking session then you need to prevent the coals from burning the tobacco in the middle of the session. You can do this by maintaining some distance between the foil and tobacco. When you're packing the bowl, leave some millimeters between the top of your tobacco and the plane created by the rim of the bowl. So that when you wrap the foil, there is distance between the tobacco and the aluminum foil. You may also place two toothpicks crossed on top of the pile to ensure space between the shisha and foil. Tobacco should not be packed down very tightly in the bowl. You need to put the tobacco in loose mound from which air can flow. Doing so, you will be able to get a flavorful hit without having to strongly puff on the hose. If desired you may even use two sheets of foil to help prevent against overheating. The principle is simple don't burn the shisha.
