Great Philadelphia Famous Artists

The history of the U. S. is very seeded in Philadelphia. Besides being known as "The City of Loving Love", it is also the locale of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the home of the Liberty Bell, and birthplace of many important people. There are many famous artists in Philadelphia that are natives, and plenty more that have come to make the town their home.

Philadelphia Icons

Many famous artists from Philadelphia have formed its history. Benjamin Franklin called Philly home and native the Betsy Ross is credited with stitching the 1st American flag. John Sydney Blyth a famous actor who was best known for his parts in the Shakespearean plays of Hamlet and Richard III. Bill Keane is the widely known cartoonist who provided families with memories of fun through his comic The Family Circus. One of the most beloved television pops ever, comic Bill Cosby is also a Philadelphia local.

Philadelphia Actors

Many famous artists from Philadelphia are actors, like Richard Gere, an actor known best for his roles in flicks like Pretty Woman, Sommersby, Chicago, and others. Kevin Bacon, also a star of the cinema screen, known for his parts in flicks like Animal House, Footloose, Flatliners, Tremors, and many more. Philly local David Boreanaz ia an actor and director well known for the TV series Angel and Bones. Tina Fey, actress and comedian most recognized from her skits in Sat. Night Live and now 30 Rock, is from Philadelphia. Mega star Will Smith from movies such as 4th Of July and Men in Black is a Philadelphia native which has also has an especially successful TV and music career.

Philadelphia Public Art

In addition to these Philadelphia famous artists, the town is also recognized as having the best amount of public art, due largely to the Fairmount Park Art Association established in 1872. This organisation is dedicated to making sure that there'll be a lot more famous artists in Philadelphia by employing public art as its fuel. This was just the first of many steps that has helped maintain attention on the humanities, culture, and sciences that has developed the city into a superb cultural center.
