Christmas and New Year's Eve are fast approaching and plenty of people may be starting to save for the upcoming holidays. New Year's Eve for me has generally been a time for relaxing and enjoying the night in a local bar or restaurant with family or friends. Last New Year's Eve my friend Lucy and I went to South America for New Year's Eve and if you are planning to go to South America, but confused about which country you may want to go, well you've clicked on the right page! I will discuss the most popular place ever visited on New Year's Eve, which is Rio de Janeiro. Let me tell you, it truly is one of the best ways to experience New Year's Eve, so you just know you want to go.
Let me tell you, Rio de Janeiro is amazing for heaps of celebrations all year round, including in February/March when the Rio Carnival is on. But hey, New Year's Eve is absolutely massive and Copacabana Beach really is the place to be for a New Year's Eve in Rio. At Copacabana people gather and celebrate together by drinking, samba dancing and watching the midnight fireworks. The midnight New Year's Eve firework display in Copacabana Beach is really special, because they use amazing very colorful fireworks that last a long time in the night sky and really light up the beach.
Accommodation is a plenty at Copacabana Beach and there are plenty of decent hotels close to the beach. Copacabana Beach is big with the tourists and we stayed in a brilliant 4 star hotel right on the beach. The hotel was one word, AMAZING! It was so worth the extra money. We had a great view of the beach and the whole area. We were thinking going to the big New Year's Eve party they had on at the hotel that looked great, but as the party entrance fee was around $1100 USD we decided to give it a miss and just spent the night out on the beach. Although our hotel was pricey there were quite a lot of affordable hotels to stay that are close by to the beach. Some of these cheaper hotels are pretty old, but still do the job you need and are pretty affordable on most budgets.
If you want warm weather for your New Year's Eve then South America is the place to be. I don't know about you but I find it so annoying that during the holiday time of year back home in the USA, the weather in there is cold. We live in Minnesota, so most of the places close to me are just covered in snow. That's why I wanted so much to spend a New Year's Eve in warm tropical location. I certainly picked a beauty in Rio de Janeiro. The weather was so fantastic whilst we were there, and I loved that we could swim at the beach all day and night. Rio de Janeiro is possibly the best warm weather location to stay during New Year's Eve.
If you love mountain hiking, Rio de Janeiro has some awesome trips. When you have had an enough of swimming and the beach, you may want to do some mountain hiking at the Corcovado and Sugar Loaf Mountains. Aside from hiking you may also try out some different things, like catching the train up Corcovado mountain where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located. Up there you will get a great view of the whole city.
Hey guys, take my word for it, I can highly recommend you check out Rio De Janeiro for your next New Year's Eve vacation.
