All-Purpose Travel Wallets for Men On The Go

By Nia Lawrence

For anyone who has seen women lugging around their huge purses, this sight has been a constant source of amusement. It's amazing how much stuff and the types of junk these women bring along with them wherever they go. Thus, it's always a big surprise to occasionally discover a male version of this kind of hoarder. Believe it or not, there are men like George Costanze who keep ridiculously overstuffed travel wallets for men in their back pockets. These wallets may not reach the bursting size of Costanza's wallet. However, they are equally the constant butt of jokes among the guy's friends who think wallets should only contain essentials for the modern men including a condom packet, just in case.

Although George was just an imaginary character in a TV sitcom, his behavior isn't that surprising among men who travel with their families. Family guys often bring along a large-sized travel wallet with lots of compartments for their travel documents, such as passports and airline tickets, plus those of the wife and kids. These zippered wallets also help the guys organize their cards, which include ID cards, ATM cards, credit cards, call cards, and business cards. Sometimes, they can tuck in a folded map or an extra pair of batteries for the digital camera inside this spacious wallet.

The general rule of packing light among travelers is always broken by these men on vacation. Even when they're just going across town to buy something, they'll likely bring too much cash or credit cards with them in their mens travel wallet. In contrast, guys with an extreme preference for traveling light will likely wear a pair of pants peppered with different pockets that can be buttoned or zipped close. Instead of keeping their stuff in one place, these men like to segregate their money and cards in separate pockets. However, when they needed to wear a formal suit, they may want to use a slimmer wallet like the breast pocket type, which is longer in size to accommodate foreign bills and only a few slots for cards.

Besides the zippered and the slimmer wallets, men can also bring other types of travel wallets. One of these types, the hidden wallet, is positioned just inside the waistband of the man's pants. Its opening hangs a little over the edge for easy reach, but it's hidden from view under the man's shirt. Pickpockets will surely find them difficult prey. Moreover, all types of travel wallets - whether they're slim, sippered, or secretly worn - have a larger size to fit those foreign currencies that measure more than six inches in length.

Ultimately, the kind of wallet that a guy brings along during his trips is a personification of his travel habits and behavior. Guys who grew up thinking like Boy Scouts would rather have a roomy wallet to keep the stuff they they'll need just in case. Meanwhile, guys who are more likely extreme campers prefer to keep it simple with a less bulky wallet. These men usually bring with them only the barest essentials - ID cards, ATM cards, credit cards, passport, and a few bills - when they go sightseeing.
